Briefings Production Workflow

Briefings are the central content format for vBriefings, but each briefing is more than a written article. Each one is a production in itself, which can involve not just research, writing, and editing, but also the creation of companion materials such as videos, flash cards, presentation slides, memes, and infographics.

The workflow provides a consistent process for moving a briefing from initial research through publication and social sharing. As shown in the workflow graphic, the process begins with gathering and analyzing relevant information, then moves through drafting, editorial review, fact checking, copy editing, and the development of related advocacy and educational resources.

Although the steps are presented in sequence, some can overlap. In particular, flash cards and infographics or memes may be created concurrently once the briefing’s core content and key data points are sufficiently developed. Every briefing includes advocacy notes and a social sharing image. Other media and advocacy resources—such as videos, flash cards, slides, memes, and infographics—are created when resources are available and when they fit the briefing’s purpose.

Taken as a whole, this workflow gives each briefing a reliable path from idea to publication. It helps ensure that the work moves through the necessary stages without losing sight of quality, accuracy, usefulness, and practical limits. It also leaves room for judgment, flexibility, and improvement as the briefing develops.
